Paul Howell MP Encourages Residents to Take Part in Consultation on Minimum Service Levels for Education Services.
The Department for Education has launched a consultation on minimum service levels in schools, colleges and universities in the event of strike action.
This sets out the Secretary of State for Education, The Rt Hon Gillian Keegan MP's, commitment to protect children, young people, and parents from future strike action. This consultation will enable Government to bring forward regulations under the powers provided in the Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Act 2023.
The consultation launch follows a series of talks held with trade unions in the schools and further education sectors to minimise disruption from strike action through a voluntary agreement, and the education unions have engaged in discussions with Gillian over recent weeks on this matter.
This consultation has been created with the view of seeking a wider range of views and help the Education Department to better understand which groups could be prioritised and how proposals could be implemented.
Please complete the consultation here.
The consultation will be open for 9 weeks, until 30th January, 2024.
